I was hit up to spin the logo on a random day - I wasn’t initially told what it was for. It was urged that it had a quicker turn around time, but I’m the person that prioritizes my client’s needs and saves questions / talk for later.
I flipped out. I had loved Carti’s music for years, and thought it would be awhile till I got to a point like this.My phone blew up the day I told the world I was a part in making the hat — although I was a small part in the movement, I was getting calls and messages from people I hadn’t spoken to in years. From jump I knew that it wasn’t something to see as a peak, or something to acknowledge as an “I made it” type of moment, but only the start to my career.
My creativity and imagination. Always putting a spin on things and creating alternative concepts for things I really like.
I wouldn’t say anything was necessarily hard about it — I didn’t know it was for the hat at first. There are some scrapped designs of mine for a newer version of the hat containing seam tape, the gold sticker on the brim, etc. that never made it.I’d say the hardest part in that was making everything flow and make sense with a particular aesthetic that can only be communicated with images. I love the idea of not knowing how to verbally explain certain ideas, only visually.
